Netsmartz.org is Good News for Parents
It’s good news for parents whose children use the internet, and don’t most of them!
A study by the University of New Hampshire found that internet safety programs aimed at our kids may be helpful in raising awareness about internet dangers. And that’s a very good thing because research indicates that about one in five kids experience a sexual solicitation while online, and that’s just within a one year time frame.
At the center of the study was the NetSmartz Workshop which was developed by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the Boys and Girls Clubs of America. The study evaluated adolescents and teens before and after using the workshop and found that they were more aware of online safety issues and of the risks associated with using the internet. Check it out for yourself or for your children. The website is www.netsmartz.org. You’ll be glad you did.
