Insuring Your Goods

When it comes to insurance, you may want to consider getting more than the industry standard of $0.60 per pound that moving companies provide with their services. Not many items can actually be replaced at that rate. Some moving companies allow you to upgrade this insurance to include replacement value for an additional fee. However, since non-payment of insurance claims is one of the top three complaints of people who move, you might want to consider getting additional moving insurance from an independent third party instead. A good place to start looking might be your homeowner’s insurance company. Be sure to include the value of every item, especially antiques and valuables, when getting the quote and purchasing the policy.
