Phishing Under Visa's Name
They are still phishing. This type of phishing, spelled phishing, is a scam that uses e-mails to steal information from consumers.
We have warned you of this scam before. Well, Visa is the latest corporation to find its name being used in an effort to rip off consumers.
The fake e-mail claims that recent changes have been made to Visa systems and to avoid service interruption of the credit card, the email recipient must confirm some vital information, such as account number and other credit card information. It also contains the dire warning that if the consumer doesn’t follow the procedures in the email, the use of the recipient’s Visa card will be temporarily disabled.
One savvy consumer didn’t fall for the scam; instead he sent it to us with the request that we use the information to warn others about these tactics to steal credit card information. Consider it done.
