Airline Ticket Scams Change Names
They come and go, then reappear with a new name. We’re talking about scams on the internet.
We received an e-mail from a military person at McGuire Air Force Base. It warned about web sites that attract customers by undercutting airline ticket prices offered elsewhere. Once you have entered your credit card information, you get a message saying that the credit card transaction has been denied and it instructs you to wire funds for payment of the tickets. Don’t do it! Using names such as busysky.net and cheapclouds.com, these sites conned unsuspecting consumers. When public attention started focusing on them, they disappeared but undoubtedly they are still operating on the internet with new names.
If it happens to you, immediately cancel your credit card because these sites ask for account number, expiration date and the number on the back of the card. It’s everything they need to do mail, phone or internet orders using your credit card.
